First Impressions: 13 inch Apple MacBook Pro (Mid 2010)
I have been meaning to buy a MacBook Pro since December of last year, but knowing that Apple will refresh the line soon, I decided to wait – I don’t need a laptop THAT bad anyway.
I have been scouring MacRumors.com, AppleInsider.com and other Apple blogs every day for hints of a MacBook Pro refresh, so imagine my joy when it was finally announced. Much more when it was delivered to my aunt’s doorstep. (I ordered it on Apple Online Store and have it delivered to them – I was going there for a vacation.)

I initially plan on getting the 15 inch base model (the one with 2.4 Ghz Core i5), but I end up ordering the 13 inch base model, in favor of mobility and battery life. It sports a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB 1066 Mhz DDR3 SDRAM, 250GB 5400rpm hard drive and Nvidia GeForce 320M graphic processor.
Apple showed it’s attention to detail, even on the packaging. Everything is laid out in an efficient and compact manner.

The box includes:
13″ MacBook Pro
60W Magsafe adapter with international plug
Extension cord with Hong Kong/UK plug
Extra Hong Kong/UK plug tip
User guide
Installation DVDs
Cleaning cloth
My first impression after powering up the laptop is: “WOW!”. The screen is bright and gorgeous, the backlit keyboard is excellent and a very nice touch, and the body is thin and sleek. Despite being a Windows user for more than 15 years, the user interface instantly feels like home to me. Everything is snappy, fast and just works out of the box, that the phrase “It just works” will begin to sound like a cliche.
The Multi touch interface is a joy to use. Never have I loved a laptop’s touchpad (okay, it’s Trackpad for me now) before. Hell, I don’t even use my last laptop’s touchpad. But I find myself using this very often, especially the the four-finger swipe (for expose).
Stay tuned for a more detailed review of this baby.
